I don’t like the way
you do the things you do
pushed you in a corner
to rid the Roman rule

I ran quickly out the door
in rebellion I was making
worldly riches with a kiss_Matt 26:15, 48
I know His heart was breaking

He said the Kingdom of God
is not of this world
and uttered only
troubled words

I didn’t mean to hurt you
I should have known better
true repentance should fix everything
when you open up this letter

please take back my selfish sack _Matt 27:1-5
I ask myself what was the cost
He wrapped a towel around my waist
allowed me to grasp the cross

He prepared a table in the presence of my enemies ____Psalm 23
that’s the way He rolls the dice
I don’t take it personal
Christ already paid the price

~ Judas Iscariot

story from John 13:1-30

What are the chances
of me having a heat stroke
in the middle of Winter?
I wouldn’t get any closer
than twenty feet

My appreciation for art
is charged by particles of radiation

Body bathed in delight
of the declining westward sun
major form of great warmth
below the branches sunk
symbolic divide
by intelligent design
impress upon me deeply
and the evening and the morning
combine the grace of giving
here hangs my language of love

Lake is Base

Yes, Lord, you know all things
You know that I love you
You are the King!
I’m still out here
playing in the water
lake is base
the water is fine
you are mine
you are mine
you are mine
your form He formed
first foot forward I move
to meet the miraculous
Master of the €lements
€verlasting arms
I don’t have to sink
to the bottom of the sea
just walk through the fire
take what ways you please
to save your people
your love keeps me close
jumping in the waves
walking on the water
Yes, Lord, you know all things
You know that I love you
You are the King!

Abide With Me

“Red Sails” after Edgar Payne
oil on 12×16 panel

“Abide with Me”

Abide with me
asleep at sea
for it is toward evening
and the day is far spent
you are my Lord
you are my present strength
creative beyond the blue
manner of man are you
it’s December two
and the evening
and the morning
were the second day

though the restless waves
may roll between us
and throw my moral compass off course
tossed to some secluded place
I loved so quickly like Sicily to Greece
Italy claims her single passenger status
but she stands alone in no man’s land

Abide with me
asleep at sea
for it is toward evening
and the day is far spent
my true love went the distance
I was lost at sea when I first found you
you were down on the stern
sound asleep on a pillow
still the storm
and sink the billow
I’ll take your peace
put your yoke upon me

Abide with me
asleep at sea
for it is toward evening
and the day is far spent
you are my Lord
you are my present strength
creative beyond the blue
manner of man are you
it’s December seven
and the evening
and the morning
were the seventh day
it’s smooth sailing all the way with you
