Set Sail | Lake Champlain, Burlington, VT |photograph by Stacy Sweeney
When it comes to analogous color schemes, think of it as all the colors in all the colors. Analogous color schemes are not limited to just three colors. My original photograph, “Set Sail”, shows blue, blue-violet, and violet.
The inevitable has come. I will be working out the issues of making my own art instead of copying old masters in the studio, who already worked out the issues. That means how to use each color principle, theory, and technique, how to work up a small drawing sketch from my own image and making a thumbnail sketch on a 6” x 9” surface to further work out the Notan, the HalfTone, the color and design problems.
I never know what possibilities lie in my subject until I really experiment. My scribbles are more original than my camera. I get something the camera can’t catch.
