Searching for the right property for ministry purposes can be exciting and disappointing. I would not say it’s time wasted, but money wasted, like wastelands. I think I should be more like the story of Zacchaeus, “Zacchaeus, hurry and come down, for I must stay at your house today.”
My Bible reading for February 25-26 is about the year of jubilee and the redemption of property, the poor and enslaved. This was the same day the long anticipated, Urban Community Life land contract was complete, which will be submitted for the Iron Hill property Friday, March 8, 2019. The land owners then have three days to accept or decline.
I imagine my last stanza in my poem, “Markers,”is about Zacchaeus falling out of the Sycamore tree to answer his calling, his calling to live the jubilee. And, Oh I could see another day coming, I felt loved. Loved into loving.
My life’s purpose is much clearer when I work to help, not possess. To use the talents God gave me to benefit others is what people valued all along. I only get the use of the wealth God created. I never have owned it.
Markers
Rise up, hearken
and enlarge the boundary markers
what’s Yours is mine
no barriers, no border line
I was bought back by a brother
brought out here by another
I keep praying, I keep counting
the open pasture land around
the divide between good and evil
in my heart lies in the middle
is there a spot on Earth unpolluted
Jesus lived the jubilee, Jesus lived the jubilee (Luke 4:18)
I get to move into this day falling
I don’t want to lose my calling
Oh I can see another day coming
loved into loving, loved into loving
