Scatter the Shade

Scatter the Shade

Trees are timeless

they shade us on hot summer afternoons

they ground us

and stretch toward what’s ahead

wood chippers are transformative

a loud, chaotic brief encounter

chewing the fallen, the broken, the old

and scatters the shade back to the earth
