Van Gogh’s “The Yellow House”

The Homeplace, so remote, so solitary up there
where the pale shades of my ancestors roamed
a homecoming by the time we’d all arrived at church
step back from the window pane, let the curtains swing
a sudden rush of sadness
drizzle turns to rain
