I Heard Your Words

“I want to be outside with the misfits, with the rebels, the dreamers, second-chance givers, the radical grace lavishers, the ones with arms wide open, the courageously vulnerable, and among even—or maybe especially—the ones rejected by the Table as not worthy enough or right enough.”

// Sarah Bessey

I Heard Your Words

I heard your words
spread a hundred miles north
across many borders
to the ends of the €arth
and I believe in you more
than the sands on the shore
that shift far beyond the harbor

I won’t let go without a blessing
feed me a fig and a morsel of manna
off father Abraham’s antique Table
mercy me, you’re able

my satisfied Savior
you are my theme of praise
you can’t ignore
the power of a sound mind

you know I had a good answer

I heard your words
spread a hundred miles north
across many waters
to the ends of the €arth
and I think of you more
than the sands on the shore
that shift far beyond the horizon

I see pink in your cheeks
for freaks and geeks and ancient Canaanite Greeks
speak sweetly with your voice
the wind has many noises
