One Foot in Heaven

Whistler | Blue and Silver Boat Entering Pourville

The Antarctic makes me shiver
in my backyard is The Little River
a wild green jungle is the way it looks
the Hollies, the Mountain Laurel and the Hemlocks
I’m tickled to listen to this one exotic bird
at least he’s one that before I’ve never heard
unlike the crow that croons
he’s the Hawk of Cooper
identified by his screams and laughs each morning at seven
one foot in heaven
in the high trees
on the high seas
