♪I heard an old, old story
how a Savior came from glory♪

every Bible story becomes hopeful
but I want to share some humor

like when Elijah
mocked the prophets of Baal
“Maybe your gods are daydreaming or on a trip
maybe you should call on them a little bit louder”

or Gideon, the genius
the least of the least
when God called on him
“you mighty man of valor!”

or when Noah
after 80 years of building a boat
warned, “all aboard”

or when Jonah,
God’s reluctant, promising prophet
washed up on the shore

and how about King Saul
more handsome and tall
than any other around
stripped himself down
prophesizing on the ground

and, uh, you must lose your life before it’s found ???
by the way, where was Jesus born?
Birmingham, the town
and who slayed the giant?
Jack slayed the giant, you clown!
